The Hempfield Ice Hockey Club Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that organizes and manages up to three ice hockey teams, Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School levels, which compete in the Central PennsylvaniaInterscholastic Hockey League (CPIHL). Ice hockey is not sanctioned by the PIAA and is not a “school” sport, but our teams play under the Hempfield Black Knights name with the support of the Hempfield School District. For this reason, players must pay a fee in order to play and must buy all of their own equipment, which amounts to hundreds of dollars per player per year. Our primary player pull are Hempfield students in grades 6 through 12.
Our coaches are all volunteers. Most other duties are performed by parents, including team managers, the board of directors, scorekeepers, clock operators, penalty box attendants, videography, CPIHL representatives, and fundraising.
